Retirement Properties Spotlight in Chapel-en-le-Frith

Chapel-en-le-Frith : Chapel-en-le-Frith is an old market town in the High Peak country on the edge of the Peak District near the border with Cheshire. Its name is likely to derive from 'Chapel in the forest clearing' and the town still has a regular market. The Eccles Pike Cross is thought to be Anglo-Saxon and lies in the churchyard of the Church of St Thomas Becket. In the 17th century the church served as a prison for Scots prisoners of the Duke of Hamilton's army many of whom died.
