Berkshire is one of the Home Counties and recognised by the Queen as the Royal County of Berkshire because of the presence of Windsor Castle. The museum also has the only full length replica of the Bayeux Tapestry. Oscar Wilde wrote his famous 'Ballad of Reading Gaol' during his enforced stay in the town.
