Manor Court is only a few minutes level walk from King Alfred's statue in the centre of the village and a good range of shops and a station. King Alfred was a frequent visitor and during his campaigns he entrusted his wife to the care of the people of Pewsey. In gratitude and to celebrate his victories over the Danes he granted a day's holiday to the inhabitants. This is still commemorated each year by the colourful Pewsey Carnival.

Communications: Pewsey is seven miles south of Marlborough on the A345 well situated between the A4/M4 and the A303/M3 and nine miles east of Devizes. There are fast trains to London (Paddington) taking about an hour and ten minutes.
