Settle was mentioned in Domesday as Setel and is situated on the River Ribble at the southern edge of the Yorkshire Dales. It is an attractive small market town with a good range of shops and a popular holiday destination with excellent walking country close to Upper Ribblesdale and the Forest of Bowland.
