Goring-on-Thames is one of England‘s most celebrated riverside villages situated in the gap formed at the end of the last ice age below the great wooded bluff of the Chilterns. Celtic herdsmen and traders tramped out the great pre-historic routes to cross the Thames at this point leaving in their wake the 5000 year old Ridgeway Path, reputedly the oldest road in Britain.
The High Street has a wide variety of shops ranging from the essentials - a post office, bank, chemist, supermarket - to other food shops, antique and speciality shops. There is an excellent range of pubs and restaurants.
