Devon is England’s third largest county and only one of three to have both a north and south coast.  It shares the National Park of Exmoor with Somerset and its most prominent feature is Dartmoor with the River Tamar its western boundary.  It’s most celebrated seaman was the legendary Sir Francis Drake and the south west has remained the home base of the Royal Navy ever since.
